Crossroads

Over and over again you will find yourself at a crossroad in life. This is a time where you have to make a decision perhaps an easy one and perhaps not. It's often at these times we make the wrong decision out of fear. There can be other factors involved too but more often than not it's fear or anxiety.

A good rule of thumb is to travel down each turn in your mind and determine are you running down that road away from something or are you running toward something you really want? Decisions based on fear almost always leave you with nothing to gain. To gain in life we must risk. All of life is about risk and gain. We plant seeds risking to lose it all in order to gain a crop. We work all week risking to give away our hard work on the promise of a paycheck. We get preganant and carry a child within us for nine months in the hopes of having a healthy child. It's a risk but life is all about risks.Even eating a meal holds risks. The food could make us sick, we could choke. In fact, I can't think of one single thing in life that doesn't hold a risk or a gain.

So next time you find yourself at a crossroads perhaps you will realize its all about risk not safety. Those who play it safe lose the largest in our world. To make any kind of a difference in this world you have to be willing to take the risks. Are you?

Hi Desiree,
I fully agree with your views:
'...Decisions based on fear almost always leave you with nothing to gain...'
we have to take risks (sometimes calculated) in order to gain in life.
“Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing.”
Thanks for sharing another good post.
God bless.

This post is easily applicable to a house decision I'm making now. Fear of making a mistake is nearly stopping me. Today I am supposed to call the bank to accept the loan that I need before making my offer, but I am allowing the fear to stop me. If I keep postponing, someone else will buy the house.

I will try to heed your advice.

Hugs,
Betty

Not making a decision is a decision. Or is it not?
Anyhow, I let people make decisions for me. This way both of us wins.

Good Monday evening to you, Desiree. How have you been ? What is new ?

I think I was at a crossroads a few months back. Somehow, different than any other time in my life, I chose differently how to see what I had versus what I didn't have, and stopped wanting/wishing for what wasn't there.

And life has gotten so much better, opened up more than I ever thought possible - and in totally new directions. And all this at age 50 :)

I think the crossroads was there my whole life. It's just finally I made the 'right' turn - and left what didn't work/wasn't meant to be, behind...

Blessings to you.

Thanks Annie for sharing your thoughts and experience. I find that when we look at other people's experiences we can learn a lot and save ourselves some painful life lessons!

As for how I am well let me just say that this year has been off to a really hard start. Physically I'm not well, emotionally I'm drained. What's more is right at this time I now have to move and am running into an extremely difficult time finding affordable housing. So all in all I'm not doing all that great if I'm to be honest. However I do have faith that somehow it will all work out, it has to! There just is no room for any other options!

You sound well Annie! I'm glad to hear that!

Hi Desiree, I'm saddened to hear how badly your year has been going. But based on what I know about you from your writings, you are a strong, capable, smart, optimistic person. It's never easy when we are in the middle of those kinds of times, but once we're past them, and we look back, we can often learn from them.

Your post reminded me of my life, four years ago, when things were at a breaking point. I was at a cross-road and had to make some major life-changing decisions. I kept thinking about how the Chinese character for "change" is made up of "danger" and "opportunity" and decided to focus on "opportunity" as my mantra.

Peace and gratitude,
Mary

Thank you Mary for your very kind thoughts. It has been a hard year but things are looking up. Oh I still have many barriers and struggles to get through there is much to be thankful for too.

I believe too that in everything there is a lesson. When bad things happen we learn and we grow. That doesn't mean it doesn't stink when you're in the midst of the bad LOL We all have to go through hard times from time to time. Some we make for ourselves through our own choices and some that just happen upon us. It's just a part of life. At the end of the day in spite of everything I'm really happy that my family is well and that we live in America. Yes we are the working poor but what better county is there to be poor in?!!

Just dropping by to show my appreciation for this particular blog. As I always say, change is the only thing guaranteed in life. Remember that no one gets out of here alive. So why fear that change if we'd all end up the same anyway.? Sometimes I think it's our own selfis reasons that make us resist change.

Cheers.
