The Magic of Thinking Big

You have probably heard about thinking big. It's great advice except for its wrong. Oh no its not wrong to think big, don't get me wrong. However, you can't just wake up and start thinking big and expect to get big. Like anything you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Big is the goal at the end of succession of baby steps and medium steps that lead to big.

So many people get confused there. They are thinking big so why isn't it working? Simple you can't usually jump that high! You have to build steps to the top. To get to big you have to start small.

In our society today we want everything yesterday and we want bigger and better every time. We are a spoiled society and in this we often lose sight of the good old fashioned values of working your way to where you want to go. So even in our thinking we are trying to skip steps.

Just remember: Think big but take lots of little steps to get to big!

Desiree,
You are so right! Most of us want everything yesterday, and don't understand why it doesn't arrive on our schedule. I enjoyed the article...

Desiree,
Good article! Thinking big and becoming big are two different things. We must always keep in mind that growth is a process not an event.
You make a great point about our "I expect it now" culture. It is hard for people to wait.

Thank you Mark for adding your thoughts today! Yeah its a funny thing how much our culture has grown spoiled and wants everything right this minute. I work is Customer service, or sales respectively and one thing that I notice is how often people get upset when I tell them they will receive their order in in 2-4 business days. In my mind that is a very quick turnaround. I remember when I was growing up every thing you ordered would take 6-8 weeks. So I feel that people are being very ungrateful. It makes me sad to see how unappreciative and spoiled we have become. I wish people would stop and look at how much we have and how far we have advanced and take a moment each day to appreciate it all!

Dear Desiree,

Patience and perseverence are not common qualities in our society, are they? I've noticed that the more meditative I am, the more realistic, and the more baby steps I end up taking.

Hugs,
Betty

Indeed they aren't Betty! Thank you so much for your wise thoughts today.

"We want what we want until it's ours"

I know people who started businesses, and immediately wanted to act like CEO's of huge companies, doing nothing but putting themselves in debt and their lives at risk. And they're still not happy.

There is a lot to be said about taking pride in your work, but if you don't work at your own business and nurture it, how can you have any pride?

There is only one way to think. And that is big. Inspiring post. And hey, let's change the world.

Time for change

Dust Bunny,

All too often that is probably true. We need to think about what having something really means before we decide we really want it. Everything needs maintenance from our shoes right on down to our relationships. One should think about what that maintenance is and if one is willing to carry it out before one actually pursues something. Thanks for bringing up such an important point.

Hey Zack thanks for your thoughts. I'll be sure to check out your blog too!

Desiree,

Some one once told me that "We can have anything we want, as long as we know what that is and pay the price."

So many of us have a wishbone. I try everyday to excercise my wishbone into a "Willbone"

Yes, I agree...think big until big isn't so big anymore.

Flyinfox_SATX, You bring up a great point. The price, whether we care to admit it or not many times in life we don't chase our dreams because we are unwilling to pay the price. The price is a large part of that equation. You can think big all you like but if you aren't willing to put your "money" where your mouth is than all the thinking in the world won't get you there.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts here today.

Good Thursday evening, dear Desiree.

THE WONDERFUL THING IS THAT EACH LITTLE STEP IS DOABLE, AND THUS THE TASK SEEMS QUITE ACHIEVABLE, EVEN THOUGH IT IS HUGE :)

Many hugs,
Loving Annie

so right! Thinking big paralyzes, Where to start? I learned just recently that all beginnings are small. Nowadays, I dream big and think small. I define needs to be done next and then take action. I never knew living your best self could be this simple.

Yes or we just forget that everything starts with a step. Thanks for adding your thoughts Norea! They are much appreciated.
