Our Actions Reverberate Throughout Our World

How do we determine right from wrong? Most of us by now just know what is right and wrong. One thing we can do is ask ourselves. What happens if I do that? We are human we are faced with temptations to do wrong every day of our lives. What do you think about when you are tempted? How do you decide what is the right or wrong thing? I would like to share with you a moment of temptation in my life.

One afternoon I went into work. I used the bathroom right away and washed my hands when completed. When ever I wash my hands my skin gets really dry and my hands feel very uncomfortable. I keep hand cream in the car but I couldn't go get it until my break which was another two hours. I sat at a desk. We all moved around so we didn't usually sit in a regular spot. I noticed right away that someone had left their tube of hand cream there! It was the perfect size for my purse and just what I needed because I had been wanting to buy one for my purse. It would be so easy to pick this up and throw it in my purse and no one would be the wiser and I'd have the hand cream I wanted. Now mind you I don't think I've ever stolen anything in my life and I'm quite sure I never will but I have on occasion ran the process though my mind. It's my human side. Just as each and every one of you have at one time or another. So at this point I thought about stealing the hand cream and I thought what would happen if I stole the hand cream. Well the person who owns it would come back tomorrow and see that it was gone. She would probably feel angry. She might go see if it went to lost and found and when she learned it didn't she would be angry and hurt. She would lose some faith in mankind. This could effect her mood and her ability to do her job properly. She may not be as kind to our customers. Our company could lose money. Customers might feel bad. Customer might take thier annoyance out on those in their lives. I continued to walk this down its path until I had a worse case scenario of someone fatally injuring another. Which could all link back to my stealing the hand cream. Now mind you we don't really get to see how our misdeeds reverberate through the world but I can assure you they most certainly do! Now I ask you just because you are blind to the dire consequences of your actions within your world does that mean you are exonerated from the guilt? Absolutely not! Now this may sound extreme but I beg you to sit down and really think about it. I'm not suggesting you change any behaviors at this point but merely asking you to think about this, really think about it.

Incidentally and probably needless to say I didn't steal the hand cream.
